It didn't last for hours. It was formal, a little clumsy — barely twenty minutes of polite questions and awkward silences. But somewhere between the pauses, something quiet took root. Everything that could go wrong, did. The place had a dead vibe, the food was awful, and she even caught a stomach ache mid-date. But the universe has a sense of humour — because the moment she descended from the stairs and I saw her for the very first time in person, time stopped. The world went quiet. And I knew, right there, with absolute certainty — I was going to marry this woman.

Like every great love story, what good is it if you never say the words out loud? Under a sky full of stars, beside the still waters of Lake Pichola, I asked her to marry me. The lake held its breath. The stars leaned in. And she said yes — before the question had even finished leaving my lips.

With the blessings of our families, we made it official and exchanged rings. The room was filled with laughter, happy tears, and a hundred moments worth holding onto forever. Two families became one, and a promise was sealed in gold.
